Directional Drill, Profile Survey

Despite all the hi-tech equipment at our disposal, there are still times when you just need to wade into a river with a staff and stand there while your colleague takes a reading. As you can see this was the case when Lansdowne were surveying along a proposed new cable route for a new solar farm in Wiltshire.

The design engineers determined that a directional drill would need to bore beneath the river from one side to the other; a survey was completed, and from that a profile of the river, banks and surrounding area was generated (see both below).
